EXPERIMENT 5 : Basic Electro-pneumatic System


1.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of this experiment, the student should be able to;

1.1 Understand the principle of a basic electro pneumatic system


2.0 EQUIPMENT / APPARATUS :

2.1 Double acting cylinder
2.2 Double solenoid valve
2.3 Limit switch
2.4 Wire & pneumatic hose


3.0 SAFETY AND HEALTH :

3.1 All pneumatic hose must be fit properly
3.2 Pressure do not exceed 6 bar
3.3 Precaution as electrical apparatus is used.

4.0 THEORY

The electro-pneumatic is a control system whereby pneumatic valve, controlled by an electric current. It is combination of pneumatic system and electrical system, Only final process element and actuator are power by pneumatic.

5.0 PROCEDURES :

5.1 Assemble the pneumatic component as shown by the figure 1
5.2 Complete the electrical connection as shown by figure 1
5.3 Run the system.
