EXPERIMENT 6 : Electro-pneumatic System (With PLC)


1.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of this experiment, the student should be able to;

1.1 Understand the principle of a basic electro pneumatic system


2.0 EQUIPMENT / APPARATUS :

2.1 Double acting cylinder
2.2 Double solenoid valve
2.3 Limit switch
2.4 Programmable Logic Controller
2.5 Wire & pneumatic hose


3.0 SAFETY AND HEALTH :

3.1 All pneumatic hose must be fit properly
3.2 Pressure do not exceed 6 bar
3.3 Precaution as electrical apparatus is used.

4.0 THEORY

A programmable logic controller (PLC), is a digital computer used for automation of industrial processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines. Unlike general-purpose computers, the PLC is designed for multiple inputs and output arrangements, extended temperature ranges, immunity to electrical noise, and resistance to vibration and impact.
In this labsheet we are going to come accross new electro-pneumatic electric componen that coil and contact. There 2 tpye of contact, normally open and normally close.
